Sail & Work Experience:
Julien has extensive work experience on yachts, having worked in many different roles in many different locations. Surrounded by other experienced crew members and captains over the years, Julien has been taught the good manner in which to run a boat - by creating and following maintenance schedules and by logging any intervention or changes on the deck department in order to keep guests safe. He has also developed an eye for detail in keeping boats in pristine condition (once maintaining a boat that was 87 years old!). He also has experience racing yachts, and following this became comfortable with all splicing and rigging jobs when the preparing the boat and upgrading all the running rigging. Julien’s expertise in the running of yachts assures guests always have an incredible charter. His passion for sailing means that he thoroughly enjoys the time on board as much as the guests do.
Job Description:
Julien is responsible for the navigation, safety, the overall running and financial management of the vessel, crew and guests. He ensures the safe and efficient operation of the yacht at all times, including compliance with all safety procedures and regulations. He takes care of adhering to flag regulations, port, state and local laws and regulations, and manages the crew to ensure adherence to, and a full understanding of, the vessel’s policies. Julien provides daily leadership for the crew and encourages teamwork, individual growth and personal attention by delegating duties and supervising all crew tasks.

FIRST MATE – Stuart McCloskey – South African
Sail & Work Experience:
Some of the many responsibilities Stuart has undertaken in the past involve: general boat exterior maintenance; line handling; tender and anchor operations; watchkeeping at anchorages; sea toys maintenance; guest service; running rigs and sail removal; and servicing winches and filters. Alike Julien, Stuart has a competitive side and has experience on racing yachts. He is proud to have finished in second place in a challenge from Cape Town to Mossel, and to have won South Africa’s Governor’s Cup race in 2013! Stuart’s sea crossings have varied in difficulty. On one yacht, he recounts, “it was a smooth crossing but did entail an interesting repair in Lanzarote done from in the water where the rudder-stock and blade needed to be removed”. On another boat, he recalls having “no autopilot, no diesel for emergencies, no ports for charging batteries, and with serious waves, this was a very challenging voyage”. It is clear that Stuart has a calm temperament, is quick thinking, and highly trained – making him an extremely reliable First Mate.
Job Description:
Stuart has the expertise required to stand in for Captain in his absence, acting as second in command. He assists the Captain during navigation and participates in all on-deck operations, respecting guest’s activities. He has extensive knowledge of sailing yachts maintenance and is responsible for the running of deck equipment and machinery.

CHEF – Rosmi Domínguez – Spanish
Sail & Work Experience:
Having delighted guests for over 13 years, Rosmi’s culinary skills are remarkable. She has worked in Los Angeles, on the Turkish Coast, in the Balearic Islands, around Greek islands, around Corsica, and in numerous other maritime locations. She has also lived in six countries (Germany, USA, Greece, Turkey, Belgium, Scotland, and Spain) and has travelled around Europe and North America. This has given Rosmi immense cultural awareness, making her a polyglot and highly knowledge on flavours used around the world, which she incorporates in the food she cooks. Her cuisine is delicious and guests never fail to compliment her gastronomical genius.
Job Description:
As the Chef, Rosmi is responsible for the crew and guest meals throughout the charter, ensuring that the food is enjoyable, the interior of the yacht is clean and serviceable and that all dietary requirements are met. She is a creative cook, varying her meals to provide variety and according to the location of ATALANTE in order to have as much relevance as possible to the country being visited.
